“Tikotin Museum of Japanese Arts” Haifa, Israel

Curated by Dr. Etty Glass Gissis

"Light on Skin" is a visual meditation on five years of life in Japan. It is A collection of moments, spaces, and people with whom I shared deep, personal connections. These images explore the textures of intimacy and the "from foreign to local" of a life lived through a lens, featuring those I have loved and the places that became home.

The Installation

The exhibition is designed to play with scale and the physical act of "looking."

Thirty of the works are framed prints ranging from standard 40x60cm sizes to immersive, large-scale pieces measuring 230x160cm.

These large formats are paired with four 35mm film viewers suspended from the ceiling. By leaning into these hanging viewers, the audience is invited to leave the gallery space behind and engage in a private, one-on-one encounter with the film—replicating the quiet intimacy of the moment the photograph was first taken.
